Investment Options

VALIC offers mutual funds to UNC ORP participants.

After a thorough analysis, the UNC ORP Investment Committee has determined that all ORP plan providers, including VALIC, must offer plan-eligible employees and current participants mutual funds, rather than variable annuity investment options. That decision was based on the Investment Committee's desire to better control plan and investments, reduce the number of core investments in the plan, and more easily monitor the investment performance.

We applaud the decision and are proud and excited to have again been selected as an ORP provider. VALIC has responded to the change by offering the Academic Freedom Retirement Program that features a wide array of mutual funds that meet the new criteria.

To view or print a prospectus, click here and look to the right-hand side of the screen. Click the appropriate link inside the box title "Prospectuses and Other Important Materials." Click on "Funds" in Quick Links, and funds available for your plan are displayed. The prospectus contains the investment objectives, risks, charges, expenses and other information about the respective investment company that you should consider carefully before investing.
